The Gallery HOHENTHAL UND BERGEN was founded in 1991 by Diana Countess von Hohenthal und Bergen. She was trained as a photographer and holds a master degree in communication. After working in the Gallery Klüser for a year she opened her first gallery in Munich. In 1993 she started a branch at Bismarckstraße 60 in Cologne. In November 1997 Diana opened her third gallery in Berlin in the traditional art dealer street at Fasanenstraße 29 in the Charlottenburg neighborhood. From 1998 on she focused only on the main gallery in Berlin.
The gallery program was focused on German and international artists, both established and emerging artists. Additional she invited curators such as Michael Corris (Punishment + Decoration), Wilfried Dickhoff (Christopher Le Brun, Jan Meier, Haralampi G. Oroschakoff), Boris Groys (Mystical Correct) or Benjamin Weill (Manifesto). A special focus she placed on the Moscow Conceptualists. Diana Hohenthal was co-founder of the first Art Moscow in 1996. Due to fundamental changes in the art market Diana decided to close her gallery in 2013. Based in Berlin Diana Hohenthal is today an independent art consultant and curator. She uses her global network and longtime gallery experience to realize exhibitions in and outside Berlin as well as organizing studio visits. She also offers all- inclusive-package around buying and selling an art piece such as framing, mounting, shipping and restoring. She also advises administration of an inheritance or archiving of private and public collections. |
